Sony Psp-3000
Looks like the PSP-3000 rumors are indeed true as a FCC listing confirms that Sony is working on the new PSP-3000 model. This doesn’t however confirm the PSP-3000 spy photos released earlier are true or not. But it does confirm that Sony do have the new model in the works.
The big rumor today revolves around this very topic, as forum posters at PSPChina have claimed the PSP-3000 is indeed already in production, and boasts a built-in microphone plus a number of cosmetic alterations. For proof, they tossed up several photos of the device, which you can view here. Obviously, nothing about this report can be considered official, not without a confirmation from Sony themselves, but it’s still intriguing. If it’s already in production, it means it would probably arrive just in time for the holidays, which makes perfect sense. That’s about when the PSP-2000 hit, after all.
It’s only just turned three, but it looks like the PlayStation Portable is now at the center of new rumor mill concerning yet another possible revision, with this one sparked by Sony itself, no less. It doesn’t come from an over-talkative exec or anything, however, but rather a curious placeholder image that was turned up on Sony’s online instruction manual site. As PSP Fanboy reports, not only are there the expected images for the original PSP-1000 series and the slimmer PSP-2000 series, but there is one for a hereto unheard of 3000 series as well (no 4000 series, though).
NO UPDATE TO THE PSP WILL HAVE 2 ANALOG STICKS, it will mean that games released using 2 sticks won’t be work on older versions and it would mean that certain games wont work on a different version of the same device. It would be a hugely stupid idea.
Any actual successor to the psp (like a psp 2) might see this, but new versions of the original won’t. It’s not that it wouldnt be great to have 2 sticks, its that Sony can’t really do it in anyway that wouldn’t piss lots of people off.
Motion sensitivity - Make the PSP sort of like a Sixaxis controller on the PS3. Would be perfect for games like Loco Roco, Downstream Panic, and could be used in other games to provide a more engaging experience.
